Golden Age Series

The golden age of the audio history. The current generation of 40-50 years old commemorates with a touch of tenderness the times, when the “hardware” was most important, and this term referred mostly to the audio equipment.

Although in the field of loudspeaker design and the production of speaker drivers some progress was made, the only large advancement was only made in the area of the tweeters. Comparing the 2 inch paper driver with a contemporary metal dome of SEAS shows clearly, that advancement here can only be compared to the one made in computing technology.

It is different with regard to bass drivers. Some designs made years ago – SEAS or Ejvind Skaaning sound better than most current drivers. When we look at the design of cross-overs, then it is even worse. Replacement of the formerly used first order cross-overs with 4th or 3rd order ones made most contemporary loudspeakers sound overly soft - “lifeless”.

The idea behind the Golden Age series was to combine the best elements from the past (light paper membranes of woofers and midrange drivers) – of course in their current execution, with a modern tweeter dome and computer aided design, based on top-notch software, something that the former loudspeaker designers lacked most.

The loudspeakers of this series are characterized with above average effectiveness and 8ohm impedance – they are very friendly load for tube amplifiers.
